Nutrition for Men’s Sexual Health

We all today live in such an era of technology where health which was earlier was a very important aspect of life, now has become one of the most challenging area of one’s life. Moreover, maintaining a sound health in all aspects is now-a-days becomes one of the most difficult tasks when it comes to daily basis.

Sexual health is a vital component of overall health & human wellbeing. We all usually keep talking about women’s health issues, women’s sexual health etc, but besides all this we ignore one of the most important sections of health issues to discuss and that is MEN’S SEXUAL HEALTH. When we say men’s sexual health, we are not just talking about libido, orgasm etc, including this we are concerned with several other sexual issues related to it.

Sexual health gets influenced positively or negatively by various factors related to sexual behaviors and experiences, physical, mental & emotional health issues, social & economic factors and societal attitudes. In the current scenario, where it’s becoming challenging to live a healthy life, there are various factors which are greatly influencing the sexual health of men which is greatly impacting on men’s mental health and sexual behaviors in a longer run.

According to reports, the factor which adversely affects men’s sexual health are: Extensive use of electronic items and gadgets, pollution, alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse, poor physical activity level/ exercise, improper usage of steroids and other supplements for body building, poor and improper nutrition and diet, longer medication, frequent and extensive usage of antibiotics, stress, hormonal imbalances, fatigue and work load, high consumption of processed & high sugar foods, obesity, anemia, and depression.According to recent reports of fox news, alcohol inhibits sexual responses. Erections are slower to rise and quicker to fall and orgasms are delayed. The report also says, good & proper consumption vegetables and fruits are the powerful weapons in the realm of sexual performance and health. Consumption of fruits such as watermelon (also known as natural Viagra), and vegetables likes onions, garlic (natural & potent Viagra) and legumes greatly improves sexual performance in men. Fried foods, processed & high sugar foods, overeating & obesity greatly diminishes the sexual drive in men.

According to researches, there are some super foods whose consumption greatly improves sexual drives in men. They are:

  • Walnuts- They improves the quality of sperm, and consuming walnuts regularly will greatly improve fertility.
  • Strawberries & Raspberries (shehtoot)- As both fruits are loaded with zinc, and zinc controls the testosterone levels (a hormone responsible for sperm production), so men must be loaded with zinc in their bodies as its level declines during & after intercourse.
  • Avocadoes- This fruit is full of folic acid and vitamin B6, & both are very important for having a healthy sex drive.
  • Watermelons- It greatly improves erection & increases libido, as it contains citruline which helps in release of arginine (amino acid) responsible for vascular health.
  • Almonds- As it contains arginine, it greatly improves circulation & also relaxes blood vessels. Arginine is also responsible for erection in men.
  • Eggs- They contains L-arginine and is highly influential for erection in men, and thus can also improve erectile dysfunction.
  • Peaches- They are loaded with vitamin C, which is responsible in improving sperm count & its quality. Peaches have proven results in reducing infertility in men.
  • Coffee- It contains caffeine which is a potent stimulant. It relaxes arteries in penis to relax and thus improves blood flow in it, resulting in improved sex drive.
  • Saffron- It’s a natural aphrodisiac (love drug substance) and thus improves sex drive, performance and male fertility.
  • Steak- It greatly improves sex drive and libido in men, as it contains zinc, vitamin B, iron and protein.
  • Broccoli- It improves libido as it contains good amounts of vitamin C.
  • Clove- It is also known as sex super food and is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is a potent natural aphrodisiac.
  • Figs- They are considered as excellent stimulants of fertility and enhance the secretions of pheromones.
  • Ginseng- It helps in improving the libido.
  • Ginger- It is a good libido enhancer as it helps in circulation temperature adjustment and mucoid detoxification.
  • Garlic- It is a strong potent natural Viagra and greatly improves sex drive.
