NEW DELHI, OCT 21, 2019: With the huge crowd and great fun with walks, fashion shows, folk dances, painting, calligraphy, storytelling, recycling workshop and live band performances, the colorful two days ‘Shahpur Jat Autumn Festival’, ended on Sunday 20th Oct. 2019.

Delhi Tourism in association with Govt. of Delhi had organized the second edition of ‘Shahpur Jat Autumn Festival’, to celebrate the national capital’s hub of fashion and striking history.

One of the oldest villages of the city, Shahpur Jat is home to potters, painters, designers, workshops, boutiques, NGOs, historical tombs, cafes and many more. Abutting the ruins of Alauddin Khilji’s medieval Siri Fort, this urban village has transformed into a popular high-fashion retail area that melds the traditional with the modern.

The two-day festival featured heritage walks, fashion shows, folk dances, painting, calligraphy, storytelling, recycling workshop, and live band performances.

Keeping with the festive mood, a Diwali Bazaar was hosted with the participation of potters, silversmiths and traditional weavers from Shahpur Jat.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, while commenting on the festival,  had said, “It is a unique effort to highlight the rich heritage and culture of Shahpur Jat village. I want the people of Delhi to get to know about this unexplored urban village and protect its heritage.”

Delhi government had recently hosted a three-day long Mehrauli Monsoon Festival to highlight the cultural and ecological significance of Mehrauli as a tourist destination.
